April 18th Jeff Wrote

Since I have a lot of news to report, I got roped into writing most of this email. As some of you know, I recently accepted a job offer from Venture Technologies, located in North Billerica, Massachusetts.

On Thursday April 7, I (with the help of my parents) loaded up my belongings in a U-Haul trailer for the trip to my new apartment in Chelmsford, MA. I am sharing the apartment with two friends. Jesse has been working in the area for a year and a half or so. Mike is finishing school in the coming weeks and starting a new job nearby.

We have the 2nd floor of a 2 story house. The landlord lives in the next house down the street. The street, Dulgarian Terrace, is technically a private way, and is named after the landlord's family. There are several houses that he and his father built on what used to be their family farm. I can't imagine the changes that he's seen in the area through his lifetime. We have plenty of living space, plus the attic, and the basement, which is shared with the first floor.

My job is going well so far, though I've only been working there for a week and a day. Venture is a contract design firm. In other words, other companies hire us to design products or refine existing designs. The Venture web site is located at http://www.venturetechnologies.com/ Past products Venture has worked on that some of you may be familiar with include: the "Swing Groover" golf swing trainer (sold at the Sharper Image) "Bop-It", a toy/game that I remember someone bringing to a past family gathering. the NUBY line of gameboy accessories

Venture has also designed many wireless sensor products, a cat food testing system (ask me about that sometime), a telephone system for radio talk shows, and many other products.

I expect I'll end up working on a wide variety of projects. I'm currently working on R&D for the next generation of the golf game. It will be really neat to see work I do appear in products for sale in various locations.

Now Moms turn:

It has been a rough up and down two or three weeks for me. Jeff had to decide rather quickly between his two job offers. One in Montgomeryville which meant he could continue to live here for awhile or the job in Massachusetts which meant he had to move again. The job in mass was a seemingly perfect fit and exactly what he wanted so we started packing and he went up to look at apts. and things moved very fast. They wanted him as soon as possible and we literally met the landlord to sign the lease with the u-haul full of his belongings at 6 on thurs. evening the 7th.

An hour from the new apt. we received a phone call from my sister Jill that my dad had been rushed to the hospital in Florida and they were operating yet that evening. He had a blood clot in his leg and was in danger of loosing his foot. Finding a vascular surgeon that also had transplant experience was not easy and finally it came together and they talked to Univ of PA hospital drs. and did test after test after test and decided it was a go.

We met Jeffs landlord, he and the other two signed the papers, we finally went to eat something and then brought everything up to the 2nd floor. We cleaned and set up some furniture and finally heard around 11 pm that my Dad had come thru the surgery all right. The next day we spent cleaning and unpacking and shopping for supplies etc. and on the phone to PA and FL.

Saturday morning Alan & I said goodbye to Jeff and headed back to PA. This move has been much harder than college because it feels so permanent. Going past his room is really strange because most of it is missing. But we wanted him to have the job he wanted and worked so hard towards. He is about 45 minutes further than college. It seems like a very nice area and he is only 10 or so miles from New Hampshire which has no sales tax.

My dad finally came home from the hospital on fri the 15th after many up and down days. He is walking with a walker and trying to get his strength back for the trip back to PA. They were heading home on the 24th but it will be delayed now but not sure how long. one of us may possibly have to go down to help them drive home. We shall see how things go.

Love,
Jo

PS: I figured i deserved a time off from writing so I will just say hi.

Hi!

Love to all,
Alan
