January 20th Mom Wrote

From Grammy…

Greetings, from Mom to my wonderful family,

Wishing you God’s richest blessings in 2005.

January 1-A brand New Year. Celebrating my 80th birthday between Christmas and New Year. One surprise after another! Wow!

December 28- big pizza party from noon till bedtime thanks to Mary’s planning. Each family came bringing their own pizza. If I counted correctly there were close to 30 here sometime during the day. Ate a lot of good pizza. That was Tuesday.

Saturday, New Year’s day- David and Carol came to spend the weekend. We had a quiet relaxing day. Went to Swamp Church Sunday morning expecting to go to Phil’s for dinner. Another surprise dinner with the whole family in the fellowship hall. 44 family members in time for dinner. Matt and Nathan were the only 2 missing.

1:30-4:00pm-friends came, another surprise about 80 people. What a party. I felt great thanks so much.

January 3-13- I was sick-sore throat, cough, muscle aches, weakness, loss of appetite. Sat and slept. Stayed in my room. I really felt alone.

Now we are through half of January and I am feeling better. I am thankful for a warm place to live. No need to go out in the cold for mail or to remove the trash. If I don’t know what to eat, the cafe food is available and I find enjoyable. Thanks for the gift certificates. The other day I had a’’ Turkey Reuben’’. Today I think I will have a’’ Taco salad in an edible bowl’’. I still have not touched any leftover cookies or candy. My sweet tooth is still asleep. As I listen to the news this week it seems most of it was about the weather. A new word for me – tsunami - don’t remember ever hearing it. Now I will never forget it. Earthquakes - Bible talks about earthquakes in various places. Never heard of one hundreds of feet under the bottom of the ocean floor. What destruction! What loss of life. Floods and mud slides in California. Tornados and blizzards in the Midwest. Fog and warm temperatures in our part of the country.

May the Lord bless you and keep you and give you a great and wonderful year. Keep the emails coming. I really enjoy and look forward to each one. Did not know I had such good writers in my family.

Love
