November 25th Mom Wrote

From Grammy…

My last E-Mail was dated Sept 23, 2004, it seems like a long time ago. On Sunday, November 21 I reread the seven letters I received since then. We have much to be thankful for. If you need a good Psalm to look at this thanksgiving week, try Ps 107. Four times it tells us to “Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever.

Thank-you Vickie and Jim for reminding us to pray for Brandon. I think of him and offer a prayer many times a day and night. I know as a parent you are suffering and going through a hard time. Be strong and of good courage, and God will be with you.

It is good to know that Devon is back and that his bit of adventure into the world without Mom & Dad was a success, and that the bus worked well.

Aaron also is home. As yet I have heard very little but I believe he had an interesting summer. I admire him for staying with his job from May to November; along time for a 17 year-old to be away from his family for the first time.

Our flower gardens are still beautiful with many varieties of pansies and beautiful kale. Early spring we had tulips, impatience, petunias and many other annuals. Later we had mums but the frost got them. Our gardener was out there planting kale in the 20 degree days. Someone told me he had 750 to plant. I don’t know if that is correct. The pretty gardens were enjoyed by many people-thanks to the Longacres.

Ready or not, winter will soon be here. Why should I dread it? I don’t need to drive in bad weather, I don’t need to go to work or school, and I can’t shovel snow. Cleaning and moving my car when snow comes are a bit of a concern but usually there is help around. So thankful that I can enjoy reading when the nights are long.

Visits and phone calls are appreciated. Grandchildren with cell phones are you too buy to call (215) 721-2015? I would love to hear from you.

All of you know that December is my least favorite month of the year. Is it because I get a year older? Is it because I never did enjoy Christmas shopping? Is it because the real meaning of Christmas means nothing to so many people? Let us as a family keep Christ in our Christmas. Giving is a part of the season, we all enjoy gifts, lets keep it simple. One family I know is only giving stocking stuffers. What are stocking stuffers? To me it means little fun things, everyday needs like Tylenol, toothpaste, and soap. You know what I mean.

Thanks for all the great newsletters. I always look forward to receiving the next one.

Enjoy the season and I will try not to complain.

Lots of love to each of you,

Mom or Grammy R.
